Lance Brooks is a lawyer, consultant, and problem solver. He believes analytics and experience are best paired with common sense. Lance has helped clients achieve their goals and navigated many through the treacherous waters of the legal system.
Prior to starting his own practice, Lance was a partner at Smith Freed & Eberhard. He was also an associate for a firm in Eugene, Oregon and a law clerk for the Honorable Cynthia Carlson. Lance participated in the Multnomah County’s Jury Trial Experience Program where he prosecuted cases for the District Attorney’s office in order to gain valuable trial experience.
Lance’s dedication has led to a great deal of success. He successfully defended an Oregon tavern in a multi-million dollar lawsuit arising from alleged negligence when escorting the plaintiff from its premises.
Defended a global bank against charges of negligence, fraud and violations of the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) stemming from a foreclosure rescue scheme that resulted in a settlement in which Lance’s client did not contribute any funds.
Obtained a defense verdict for an escrow company in arbitration arising from claims of negligence and breach of contract related to alleged improper reconveyance of a trust deed.
Defended a title and escrow company and its construction disbursement subsidiary against claims of negligence and breach of contract. This was brought by 26 plaintiffs who sought $4.25 million in damages stemming from numerous loans given by those plaintiffs. Through ardent discovery and persuasive legal arguments, 23 of the 26 plaintiffs dismissed their claims with prejudice. The remaining three plaintiffs settled their claims for nuisance value.
